Benefits :
Coaching is often described quite simply as a 'dialogue or conversation, yet with a purpose'. Coaching helps to structure thoughts and ideas into a coherent form which can be then effectively acted upon. The most important aspect of this activity is that the client (or coachee) takes a significant role in leading the process to establish their goals and to take appropriate actions towards these. The role of the coach is to help the coachee to create meaningful goals and support them to achieve their aims. A coach uses patience and good questioning skills to open up potential and possibilities. A coach encourages a coachee to learn new strategies in problem-solving and improving performance. Most people find coaching to be enjoyable, stimulating, challenging and a great learning curve. A helpful view on coaching is given by Eric Parsloe and Melville Leedham in 'Coaching and Mentoring - practical conversations to improve learning'.
